What Are You Doing for the Rest of Your Life?

A Retreat on Conscious Aging with Jeanne Mackey

Registration: $50-$75 as able; pre-registration required

This day-long retreat for women and men in their 40s and 50s offers an exploration of the challenges and gifts of aging through journaling, group sharing, solo time in nature, and ceremony. Discover ways of facing aging that expand rather than constrict your soul. Identify old ways of thinking that you want to release. Reconstructing Life Stories as Outreach Programs for Older Adults with Sally Lawler

Cost: $100.00 including lunch, snacks and handouts; pre-registration required.

This program has been created for library and museum staff interested in expanding outreach programs to seniors as well as professional and family caregivers working with elders. The course will include an overview of narrative therapy, life review, reminiscence, and guided autobiographical writing groups; leadership training in guiding others to tell their story; a reflective understanding of our own journey;  and use of photographs and life stories in memory books.

Embodying Peace - An introduction to Continuum Movement with Robin Becker

Registration:  $35

This workshop will introduce Continuum Movement as a way to fulfill and nourish peace within ourselves.  Explorations of gentle movement; uncovering the healing potential in our body's wisdom; and celebrating the peace we all carry within; will enrich and inform both physical and spiritual practices.  This workshop is appropriate for everyone at all mobility levels and is a safe, gentle way to connect and be joyful within our body.

Living Lightly: a gathering to inspire and celebrate delighted �enoughness�

Cost: $35 to register before November 15; $50 at the door.  No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Dean Emeritus Jim Crowfoot of U of M�s School of Natural Resources and the Environment will speak on Changing Joyously to Achieve Sustainability: Using Spirit, Experience and Science Based Information.  Small focus groups will take up various sustainability issues and identify resources to meet the challenges.  The day will also include time for personal and group reflection, a simple delicious lunch featuring local produce, and light, lively music

Generosity - what does it really mean to incorporate it into our lifes.  At this the beginning of the holiday and giving season, we'll explore this topic.  Take some time to center and know how precious each moment of your life really is. Join us in Meditation and Silence. Michigan Friends Center, a Quaker-founded non-profit retreat center at 7748 Clark Lake Rd. in Chelsea, Mi., is hosting Day of Meditation (9:00 am to 4:30 pm) for those interested to learn (or practice) insight meditation; the retreat is appropriate for beginners and all levels of meditators. Insight meditation is a simple and direct practice of moment-to-moment awareness (mindfulness) of body/mind experiences that nutures living more skillfully. One does not have to subscribe to a particular religion or engage in rituals to enjoy the benefits of meditation. Led by Carol Blotter, a senior teacher with the Forest Way and Deep Spring Center..
